Regular Season Round 19: Kristika Turku - Korikouvot 96-70

An interesting game was played in Turun where host Kristika Turku (#8) rolled over 5th ranked Korikouvot with 26-point difference 96-70 on Sunday evening. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 96-70. Kristika Turku dominated on the defensive end, holding Korikouvot to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Kristika Turku shot 21 for 28 from the free-throw line, while Korikouvot only scored three points from the stripe. They outrebounded Korikouvot 45-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. Kristika Turku looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for power forward Mikael Aalto (205-94) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. French forward Manuel Barnes (200-92, college: Baker) helped adding 23 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side American forward James Suber (201-95, college: CSU Bakersfield) responded with 12 points and forward Joel Mantynen (197-2) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Kristika Turku maintains eighth place in Division with 8-11 record. Loser Korikouvot dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. Kristika Turku will meet Pyrinto Ak.A (#9) in the next round. Korikouvot will play against MuKi and hope to secure a win.
