Second Stage Round 7: Olimpia - Victoria 73-61

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Grodno: Olimpia (#2) and Victoria (#5). Olimpia (4-1) won against visiting Victoria (0-8) 73-61. Victoria was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Olimpia forced 21 Victoria turnovers and outrebounded them 47-34 including 33 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for forward Nadzeya Nadzezhka (183-87) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. International swingman Arina Masko (178-99) accounted for 17 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Four Olimpia players scored in double figures. Forward Elizaveta Shyshliuk (178-5) came up with 12 points and 7 rebounds and forward Irina Kravchenko (182-1) added 11 points respectively for Victoria in the defeat. Victoria's coach Elena Skrobko rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Olimpia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 4-1 record having just one point less than leader Gorizont II. Loser Victoria still closes the standings with eight games lost. Olimpia will meet at home Gorizont (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Victoria will play against the league's leader Tsmoki-Minsk and hopes to get finally their first victory.
