Regular Season Round 40: Shizuoka - Saga B. 84-98

B3 League top team - Saga B. (30-10) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat tenth ranked Shizuoka (13-25) 98-84. Saga B. made 38-of-49 charity shots (77.6 percent) during the game, while Shizuoka only scored fifteen points from the stripe. Saga B. forced 20 Shizuoka turnovers and had a 14-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Shizuoka was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by American Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) who scored that evening 41 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Evan Yates (198-91, college: Ashland) supported him with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Yates is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Saga B.'s coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 28 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists by Beninese forward Muusa Dama (207-96, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) did not help to save the game for Shizuoka. Forward Abu Philip (198-97) added 18 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Four Shizuoka players scored in double figures. Saga B. have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Newly promoted Saga B. maintains first position with 30-10 record. Shizuoka lost sixth consecutive game. Shizuoka at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth place with 25 games lost. Saga B. will play against Okayama (#5) at home in the next round. Shizuoka will play against Tokyo CR (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
