Regular Season Round 34: Korihait - Seagulls 70-104

Date: February 26, 2020
Korisliiga top team - Seagulls (27-5) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Korihait (6-27) in Uusikaupunki 104-70. The game without a history. Seagulls led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Seagulls outrebounded Korihait 42-28 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Antti Kanervo (192-89, agency: Blacktop Management) who helped to win the game recording 40 points (!!!). International Shawn Huff (198-84, college: Valpo) contributed with 9 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American guard Trey Zeigler (196-91, college: TCU) replied with 22 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Kevin Ware (188-93, college: Georgia St.) added 12 points in the effort for Korihait. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Seagulls have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 27-5 record. Korihait lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 27 lost games. Seagulls are looking forward to face league's second-placed Vilpas in Salo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Korihait will play at home against Pyrinto (#5) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
