Regular Season Round 23: Keflavik - Haukar 79-74

The game between third ranked Haukar (13-9) and fifth ranked Keflavik (12-8) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Haukar was defeated by Keflavik in a tough game in Keflavik 74-79. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-12. But Haukar won second period 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Keflavik forced 20 Haukar turnovers. It was a great evening for Venezuelan Daniela Wallen (180-95, college: Oklahoma City) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. International guard Thoranna Hodge-Carr (166-99) helped adding 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Randi Brown (170-96, college: New Orleans) responded with 29 points and 4 steals and guard Lovisa Henningsdottir (184-95) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Keflavik maintains fifth place with 12-8 record. Haukar lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with nine games lost. They share it with Skallagrimur. Keflavik are looking forward to face Breidablik (#7) in Kopavogur in the next round. Haukar will play at home against Grindavik (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
