Regular Season Round 122: Atlanta H. - Brooklyn N. 141-118
Date: February 28, 2020
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Atlanta where one of their biggest challengers Nets (26-32) were outplayed by fifth ranked Hawks (18-43) 141-118 on Friday. Hawks outrebounded Nets 52-38 including 37 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. The best player for the winners was U.S. Virgin Islands-American John Collins (208-97, college: Wake Forest) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. Guard Trae Young (188-98, college: Oklahoma) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 assists. Guard Spencer Dinwiddie (198-93, college: Colorado) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and guard Caris LeVert (201-94, college: Michigan) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hawks maintains fifth position with 18-43 record. Nets lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 32 games lost. Hawks will face higher ranked Trail Blazers (#4) in Portland in the next day and it may be quite challenging game. Nets will play on the road against the league's leader Heat in Miami and hope to win that game.
