Regular Season Round 21: Gries/Oberhoffen - Fos-Provence 105-84

There was a small surprise in Bischwiller where fourteenth ranked Gries/Oberhoffen (9-12) outscored 11th ranked Provence Basket (9-12) 105-84 on Friday. Gries/Oberhoffen made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Gries/Oberhoffen outrebounded Provence Basket 39-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Spanish forward Asier Zengotitabengoa (199-88) stepped up and scored 30 points and 9 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all six shots !!!) for the winners and Spanish point guard Josep Franch (193-91) chipped in 18 points and 12 assists. Gries/Oberhoffen's coach Ludovic Pouillart felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Cameroonian center Junior MBida (206-90) with 19 points and Ivorian-American swingman Charles Abouo (196-89, college: BYU) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Gries/Oberhoffen moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Fos-Provence and Vichy Clermont. Gries/Oberhoffen will meet higher ranked Souffelweyersheim (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Provence Basket will play against SPO Rouen and hope to secure a win.
