Regular Season Round 15: Zagreb - FSV Rijeka 59-45

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked FSV Rijeka (4-10) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Zagreb (5-10) 59-45 on Saturday. Zagreb dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to FSV Rijeka's 22. Zagreb forced 22 FSV Rijeka turnovers and outrebounded them 42-21 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for forward Anja Skara (188-91) who led her team to a victory scoring 8 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Gabrijela Grizelj (172-1) helped adding 16 points and 8 rebounds. Zagreb's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American guard Violet-Kapri Morrow (173-97, college: EWU) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized Bosnian point guard Anja Perko (170-0) scored 9 points and 4 assists. Zagreb moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Zadar and Split. FSV Rijeka lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Zagreb will meet bottom-ranked Pula C.Tours (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. FSV Rijeka will play against KK Zadar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
