Regular Season Round 22: Gijon Basket - Carbajosa 73-101

EBA top team - Carbajosa (19-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Gijon Basket (11-8) 101-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gijon Basket. Carbajosa dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Gijon Basket's 22 and made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Gijon Basket 39-22 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for Bahamas forward Willis Mackey (203-96, college: UNOH, agency: Duran International) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Arturo Cruz (184-93) contributed with 7 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. Carbajosa's coach Jesus Gutierrez felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Fernando Fernandez (201-89, college: Hannibal-LG, agency: Dynamics Global Management) replied with 23 points and 5 rebounds and guard Alejandro Rodriguez (188-98) added 17 points in the effort for Gijon Basket. Carbajosa have an impressive 19-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group A-B with 19-0 record. Loser Gijon Basket keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Carbajosa will face league's second-placed Chantada at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
