Second Stage Round 12: Rubon - Grodno-93 77-110

Everything could happen in Vitebsk at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Grodno-93 and second-best Rubon had identical 15-6 record. But Rubon was not able to use a home court advantage and was rolled over by the opponent from Grodno 110-77 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 110-77. Grodno-93 looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Rubon's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Ukrainian point guard Maksim Miroshnichenko (182-96) who helped to win the game recording 9 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists and Ukrainian forward Ivan Kalyaev (200-87) who added 10 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Grodno-93 players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Egro Potupchik (190-94) with 19 points and Russian forward Marsel Ovsepyan (202-90) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Grodno-93 have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Loser Rubon dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Grodno-93 will face Tsmoki-Minsk R. (#4) on the road in the next round. Rubon will play against the league's leader COR-Borisfen in Mogilev and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
