There was an upset when higher ranked Agriniou (8-12) lost to fifteenth ranked Filippos Veroias (6-13) in Veria 58-72 on Saturday. Filippos Veroias looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Agriniou's players. Guard Efthimis Kothras (193-81) orchestrated the victory with a triple-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists. Guard Faidonas Parapouras (190-87) contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots) for the winners. Four Filippos Veroias players scored in double figures. Filippos Veroias' coach Dimitrios Gimas used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Alexandros Stamatogiannis (204-97, agency: Mansfield and Associates) replied with 12 points and 6 rebounds and forward Dimitrios Patsantzopoulos (197-0) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Agriniou. Newly promoted Filippos Veroias maintains fifteenth position with 6-13 record. Agriniou at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. Filippos Veroias will face higher ranked Karditsas (#7) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
