Regular Season Round 22: Tenerife - Joventut 96-90

Not a big story in a game in Tenerife where 12th ranked Joventut (9-13) was defeated by fourth ranked CB Canarias (14-7) 96-90 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. CB Canarias looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Brazilian-Italian point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-83) had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 6 rebounds and 16 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89) chipped in 19 points during the contest. At the losing side Slovenian guard Klemen Prepelic (191-92) responded with 32 points and Latvian guard Arturs Zagars (190-0) scored 16 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. CB Canarias maintains fourth position with 14-7 record. Loser Joventut keeps the twelfth place with 13 games lost. CB Canarias will face Baskonia (#10) in Vitoria in the next round where they are favorite. Joventut will play at home against Unicaja Malaga and hope to win that game.
