There was a minor upset when Gijon (8-15) was edged at home by La Roda (8-15) 77-74 on Saturday. Strangely Gijon outrebounded La Roda 42-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. Pablo Cordoba (182-97) stepped up and scored 18 points and 4 assists for the winners and point guard Daniel de-la-Rua (181-97) chipped in 10 points. La Roda's coach Sergio Vicente used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Haitian-American power forward Mike Amius (201-96, college: W.Carolina, agency: Duran International) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Nolan Ebel (186-96, college: Augustana, IL, agency: Promo Sport ID) scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Gijon players scored in double figures. La Roda will face Zornotza (#12) in Amorebieta-Echano in the next round.
