Regular Season Round 24: Sao Paulo - Corinthians 89-80

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Sao Paulo (#3) and Corinthians (#8). Sao Paulo (18-6) won against visiting Corinthians (11-12) 89-80. Sao Paulo made 30-of-39 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. 30 personal fouls committed by Corinthians helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Georginho de-Paula (195-96) who scored 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). The former international Leonardo Meindl (201-93) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Bahamas David Nesbitt (200-91, college: St.Thomas, FL) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) and the former international point guard Ricardo Fischer (185-91) added 21 points and 6 assists respectively. Corinthians' coach Bruno Savignani rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sao Paulo have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Corinthians at the other side dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
