Regular Season Round 15: Montpellier - Hainaut 85-74

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Hainaut (5-10) was defeated on the road by third ranked Montpellier (11-4) 85-74 on Saturday. Montpellier forced 21 Hainaut turnovers. It was a great evening for Australian-American swingman Samantha Whitcomb (178-88, college: Washington) who led her team to a victory scoring 30 points and 5 rebounds. Naturalized American forward Gabby Williams (180-96, college: UConn, agency: Wasserman) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was DR Congolese center Pauline Akonga-Nsimbo (188-82, agency: LBM Management) with 13 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Aaryn Ellenberg (170-92, college: Oklahoma) scored 14 points. Montpellier maintains third place with 11-4 record having just two points less than leader Lyon. Hainaut lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with ten games lost. Montpellier will meet Roche (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Hainaut will play against Flammes and hope to secure a win.
