Regular Season Round 19: Sleza Wroclaw - AZS Uniw.Gd. 97-92

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Sleza Wroclaw (11-8) defeated at home bottom-ranked AZS Uniw.Gd. (1-18) 97-92. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Sleza Wroclaw dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to AZS Uniw.Gd.'s 32. They outrebounded AZS Uniw.Gd. 38-22 including 28 on the defensive glass. Sleza Wroclaw players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American Cierra Burdick (188-93, college: Tennessee, agency: LBM Management) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Dominika Owczarzak (170-94) accounted for 24 points and 9 assists for the winning side. American guard Tierra Ruffin-Pratt (178-91, college: UNC) came up with 36 points (!!!) and 4 assists and Russian Olga Frolkina (185-97) added 23 points (made all of her seven free throws) respectively for AZS Uniw.Gd. in the defeat. Four AZS Uniw.Gd. players scored in double figures. Sleza Wroclaw maintains sixth place with 11-8 record. Newly promoted AZS Uniw.Gd. stay dead last with 18 lost games. Sleza Wroclaw's next round opponent will be league's leader Arka Gdynia on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AZS Uniw.Gd. will play against Enea AZS P. (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
