Regular Season Round 22: Ardoi - Baskonia 76-71

Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Baskonia (10-11) lost to fourth ranked Ardoi (14-7) in Zizur Mayor 71-76 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Ardoi forced 22 Baskonia turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Ardoi especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. It was a very good performance for guard Pope Urtasun (187-80) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Naturalized Ukrainian forward Anton Savitski (196-86) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Czech guard Ondrej Hanzlik (193-2) replied with 23 points and 5 rebounds and Joseba Querejeta (-3) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Baskonia. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Ardoi have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in Group A-A, which they share with Arha Hoteles. Baskonia lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. Ardoi will face bottom-ranked Zarautz (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Baskonia will play against Valle de Egues and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
