Regular Season Round 22: Valle de Egues - Nissan Burgos 67-64

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Valle de Egues (10-10) edged 6th ranked Nissan Burgos (11-10) in Olaz 67-64 on Sunday. They outrebounded Nissan Burgos 40-24 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for point guard Alex Calvo (180-91) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Javier Lacunza (203-94, college: FAU) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Alvaro Gomez (194-84) replied with 14 points and 6 rebounds and Dutch center Oliver Bieshaar (202-1) added 13 points in the effort for Nissan Burgos. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Valle de Egues have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place in Group A-A. Loser Nissan Burgos keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Valle de Egues will face Baskonia (#9) on the road in the next round.
