Regular Season Round 18: Kalmar - RIG Mark 94-96

The most exciting game of round 18 in the Basketettan took place in Kalmar. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-best Kalmar (11-3) to first ranked RIG Mark (13-1) 96-94 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Kalmar. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-20. But Kalmar won third quarter 28-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for point guard Tom Sanne (184-2) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 4 assists. Forward Andre Lorentsson (201-1) contributed with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. RIG Mark's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Slovenian Jan Tratnik (190-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Einar Bradd (187-0) added 28 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Kalmar. Five RIG Mark and four Kalmar players scored in double figures. RIG Mark have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position in South with 13-1 record. Kalmar at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. RIG Mark are looking forward to face Hammarby (#5) in Stockholm in the next round. Kalmar will play again on the road against the league's leader RIG Mark in Kinna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
