Regular Season Round 16: DCU Mercy - Maree 81-58

Date: March 1, 2020
The game between Top Four teams took place in Dublin. First ranked host DCU Mercy (16-1) smashed their biggest opponent Maree (13-4) 81-58. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Maree. DCU Mercy made 25-of-31 charity shots (80.6 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for American forward Meredith Burkhall (190-97, college: Iowa St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds. The former international guard Sarah Woods (174-88) contributed with 21 points for the winners. The former international guard Claire Rockall (178-90, college: Iowa St.) replied with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and American Carly McClendon (185-96, college: Rollins) added 11 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Maree. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. DCU Mercy have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-1 record. Newly promoted Maree keeps the second place with four games lost. DCU Mercy's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Glanmire in Cork and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maree will play at home against IT Carlow and hope to win that game.
