A very close game took place in Glyfada between Esperides and Sporting. Ninth ranked Esperides (8-11) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Sporting (9-10). Esperides managed to escape with a 3-point win 74-71 on Sunday evening. Esperides forced 20 Sporting turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Lebanese point guard Rebecca Akl (169-92) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. American swingman Jasmine Gill (185-90, college: JMU, agency: LBM Management) accounted for 26 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American power forward Stephanie Kostowicz (188-95, college: Milwaukee, agency: Wasserman) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import forward Taya Reimer (193-95, college: Michigan St.) added 15 points respectively for Sporting in the defeat. Esperides moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Niki Lefkadas. Sporting lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with ten games lost. Esperides will meet Niki Lefkadas (#7) on the road in the next round. Sporting will play against Giannena and hope to secure a win.
