There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Rio Claro (12-13) beat at home higher ranked UniFacisa (12-13) 90-80 on Monday. Rio Claro made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Argentinian Enzo Ruiz (193-88) nailed 21 points and 5 assists for the winning side and the former international power forward Gerson Santo (206-91, college: Colorado St.) accounted for 17 points and 10 rebounds. American point guard Nate Barnes (178-90, college: Alders.-Broad.) came up with 18 points and Uruguayan point guard Santiago Vidal (180-89, agency: Pro Sports) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for UniFacisa in the defeat. Five Rio Claro and four UniFacisa players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Rio Claro. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated UniFacisa. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
