There was a small surprise in New Orleans where fifth ranked Timberwolves (18-42) defeated their close opponent Pelicans (25-36) 139-134 on Tuesday. Timberwolves made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Malik Beasley (196-96, college: FSU) who scored 28 points and 4 assists (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). DAngelo Russell (196-96, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 23 points and 8 assists. Timberwolves' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Jrue Holiday (193-90, college: UCLA) who recorded a triple-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists and guard Lonzo Ball (198-97, college: UCLA) added 26 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Timberwolves maintains fifth position with 18-42 record which they share with defeated Pelicans. Loser Pelicans keep the fifth place with 36 games lost. Timberwolves will face higher ranked Bulls (#3) in Chicago in the next day and it may be quite challenging game. Pelicans will play on the road against the league's second-placed Mavericks in Dallas and hope to win that game.
