Regular Season Round 36: Seagulls - Kouvot 97-88

Leader Seagulls delivered the twenty eighth victory. This time they beat 8th ranked Kouvot (13-21) 97-88 in Helsinki. Seagulls made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Seagulls players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was a good game for the former international Antti Kanervo (192-89, agency: Blacktop Management) who led his team to a victory with 36 points (!!!) and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). International Shawn Huff (198-84, college: Valpo) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American guard David Gonzalvez (193-87, college: Richmond) replied with 24 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import guard Avery Woodson (188-93, college: Butler) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Kouvot. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kouvot's coach Tuomas Oja rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Seagulls maintains first position with 28-6 record, which they share with Vilpas. Kouvot lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 21 games lost. Seagulls will play against Kataja (#7) in Joensuu in the next round where they are favorite. Kouvot will play at home against Pyrinto and hopes to get back on the winning track.
