Very expected game when 11th ranked Katarzynki (3-17) was smashed by third ranked AZS Gorzow (15-5) in Gorzow Wlkp. 86-64 on Wednesday. AZS Gorzow dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Katarzynki's 22. AZS Gorzow forced 19 Katarzynki turnovers and outrebounded them 54-33 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. AZS Gorzow looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The winners were led by British forward Cheridene Green (190-95, college: Tennessee) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and Lithuanian forward Laura Juskaite (186-97) supported her with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Four AZS Gorzow players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds by American center Latoya Williams (192-87, college: Chipola JC) did not help to save the game for Katarzynki. Her fellow American import swingman Naomi Davenport (183, college: WVU) added 21 points for the guests. Katarzynki's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. AZS Gorzow maintains third position with 15-5 record having five points less than leader Arka Gdynia. Katarzynki lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 17 games lost. AZS Gorzow will meet at home Widzew (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Katarzynki will play against CCC Polkowice and hope to secure a win.
