Date: March 5, 2020
The most crucial game of the last day was another loss of top-ranked Rockets (39-22) in Houston on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Clippers (43-18) 120-105. Clippers had a 48-36 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Rockets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Kawhi Leonard (201-91, college: San Diego St.) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Paul George (206-90, college: Fresno St.) who added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Point guard Russell Westbrook (190-88, college: UCLA) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and James Harden (196-89, college: ASU) scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Clippers and four Rockets players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Clippers have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 43-18 record having just one point less than leader Toronto R. Rockets at the other side still keep top place with 22 games lost.
