Very predictable result in Galdakao where second ranked GDKO Bizkaia (17-5) outscored 11th ranked Arxil Pontevedra (6-15) 79-49 on Saturday. GDKO Bizkaia looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Finnish guard Elina Koskimies (183-95, college: American) who scored 26 points and 6 rebounds. Alicia Villegas (174-94) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian power forward Johanna Puchetti (191-87) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and forward Cristina Diaz (182-93) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for GDKO Bizkaia. They maintain second place in Group A with 17-5 record having just two points less than leader Estudiantes. Loser Arxil Pontevedra keeps the eleventh position with 15 games lost. GDKO Bizkaia will face league's leader ASEFA Estudiantes in Madrid in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Arxil Pontevedra will play at home against Alcobendas (#4) and hope to win that game.
