Regular Season Round 22: Templeogue - Killester 98-89

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Dublin: Templeogue (#3) and Killester (#6). Templeogue (13-8) won against visiting Killester (10-11) 98-89. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Killester. Templeogue brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Killester was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Darren Townes (201-86, college: Hofstra) notched 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the former international point guard Lorcan Murphy (182-94) supported him with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Templeogue's coach Mark Keenan allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Kason Harrell (188, college: PFW) did not help to save the game for Killester. Guard John Behan (193-85) added 12 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Five Templeogue and four Killester players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains third position with 13-8 record having four points less than leader Tralee, which they share with UCD Marian and Eanna. Killester at the other side keeps the sixth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with DCU Saints and Killorglin. Templeogue's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Dublin to the arena Eanna.
