Regular Season Round 20: Aris - Ifestos 88-77

Bottom-ranked Aris managed to get a sixth victory, breaking the three-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they won against fifth-ranked Ifestos in Thessaloniki 88-77. The game was mostly controlled by Aris. Ifestos managed to win third quarter 31-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American point guard Ken Brown (180-89, college: Philander Smith) who scored 22 points and 5 assists. Montenegrin forward Vladimir Dragicevic (206-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. American point guard Jerry Smith (189-87, college: Louisville) produced 18 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward Marcus Gilbert (198-93, college: Fairfield) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Five Aris and four Ifestos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aris (6-14) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Panionios. Ifestos at the other side keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Lavrio. Aris is looking forward to face higher ranked Peristeri GS (#3) in Athens in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Ifestos will play at home against Larissa BC and is hoping to win this game.
