Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Polonia Bytom (7-16) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Bielsko-Biala (10-13) 84-75 on Saturday. Strangely Polonia Bytom outrebounded Bielsko-Biala 43-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bielsko-Biala made 11 blocks. Point guard Wojciech Zub (185-95) stepped up and scored 30 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners and forward Robert Kozaczka (199-81) chipped in 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. At the losing side Lukasz Lewinski (186-99) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and guard Jakub Kucharski (184-0) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Four Polonia Bytom players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Bielsko-Biala. They moved-up to eighth place in Group C, which they share with AZS PCz. Loser Polonia Bytom dropped to the tenth position with 16 games lost. Bielsko-Biala will face higher ranked Jaworzno (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Polonia Bytom will play against Unia Tarnow and hope to win that game.
