Regular Season Round 25: Kouvot - ViVe 79-52

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Kouvottaret as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Kouvottaret smashed 8th ranked ViVe in Kouvola 79-52. The game without a history. Kouvottaret led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding ViVe to just 6 points in third and fourth quarters. They outrebounded ViVe 53-38 including 18 on the offensive glass. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Ameryst Alston (175-93, college: Ohio St.) stepped up and scored 17 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winners and swingman Camille Zimmerman (184-95, college: Columbia) chipped in 13 points and 13 rebounds. Four Kouvottaret players scored in double figures. Kouvottaret's coach Mika Hartonen felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side swingman Amy Griffin (183-96, college: La Salle) responded with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Abria Trice (185-92, college: ECU, agency: LBM Management) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Kouvottaret (21-4) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. ViVe at the other side dropped to the ninth place with 19 games lost. ViVe will play next round against Catz Lappeenranta trying to get back on the winning streak. Kouvottaret will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Torpan Pojat in Helsinki.
