Regular Season Round 27: Sokol Lancut - Gornik Walbrzych 78-81

The most exciting game of round 27 in the 1Liga took place in Lancut. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 4th placed Sokol Lancut (15-9) to first ranked Gornik (19-5) 81-78 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sokol Lancut. Gornik looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for center Damian Cechniak (208-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Grzegorz Kulka (205-96) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Gornik's coach Lukasz Grudniewski used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Swingman Bartlomiej Karolak (199-92) answered with 23 points and power forward Szymon Szymanski (205-96, agency: Octagon Europe) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sokol Lancut. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gornik have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 19-5 record. Sokol Lancut at the other side keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Gornik are looking forward to face GKS Tychy (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sokol Lancut will have a break next round.
