There was no surprise in Athens where 7th ranked Iraklis (9-11) was crushed by second ranked AEK (16-4) 86-61. The game was mostly controlled by AEK. Iraklis was better in second period 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AEK forced 19 Iraklis turnovers. They shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. The former international point guard Nikolaos Zisis (197-83, agency: Octagon Europe) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 5 assists. The former international Vladimir Jankovic (202-90, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four AEK players scored in double figures. Canadian guard Olivier Hanlan (193-93, college: Boston Coll., agency: Wasserman) replied with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American Jamal Shuler (191-86, college: VCU) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Iraklis. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. AEK have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-4 record having just two points less than leader Panathinaikos. Newly promoted Iraklis keeps the seventh place with 11 games lost. AEK will play against Lavrio (#5) at home in the next round. Iraklis will play against the league's leader Panathinaikos and hopes to get back on the winning track.
