There was a small surprise in Minnesota where fifth ranked Pelicans (27-37) defeated their close opponent Timberwolves (19-44) 120-107 on Sunday. They outrebounded Timberwolves 54-42 including a 44-33 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pelicans looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a great evening for point guard Jrue Holiday (193-90, college: UCLA) who led his team to a victory scoring 37 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Brandon Ingram (206-97, college: Duke) helped adding 15 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Malik Beasley (196-96, college: FSU) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds and DAngelo Russell (196-96, college: Ohio St.) scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Timberwolves' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Pelicans moved-up to fourth place. Loser Timberwolves keep the fifth position with 44 games lost.
