Regular Season Round 21: Korikouvot - HNMKY 83-59

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Kouvola where 5th ranked HNMKY (10-11) was rolled over by sixth ranked Korikouvot (10-10) 83-59 on Sunday. The game without a history. Korikouvot led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Korikouvot outrebounded HNMKY 46-32 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Henri Permanto (197-1) stepped up and scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and swingman Vili Nyman (198-98) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was point guard Erik Waxlax (175-99) with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and Cameroonian forward Arsene Towa (191-81) scored 13 points. HNMKY's coach Timo Saukkola gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Korikouvot moved-up to fifth place in 1st Division. Loser HNMKY dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. Korikouvot will face Pyrinto Ak.A (#9) in Tampere in the next round. HNMKY will play at home against FoKoPo and hope to win that game.
