Not a big story in a game when Gijon (8-17) was edged at home by Pardinyes-L. (12-13) 78-75 on Sunday. It was a good game for American swingman Wendell Davis (198-95, college: Ashland, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who led his team to a victory with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Canadian-Jamaican guard David McCulloch (185, college: McMaster) contributed with 12 points and 5 assists for the winners. Haitian-American power forward Mike Amius (201-96, college: W.Carolina, agency: Duran International) answered with 16 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Carlos Poyatos (207-94) added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Gijon. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gijon's coach Ignacio Galan let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Pardinyes-L. will face Zornotza (#11) in Amorebieta-Echano in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gijon will play on the road against Albacete and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
