Regular Season Round 4: Barreteras - Mustangs 68-70

Barreteras (3-1) recorded its first loss in Zacatecas on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by ninth ranked Mustangs (1-3) 70-68. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Barreteras. Anel Tapia fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (made all of her nine free throws !!!) for the winners. Siria Reyes chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Mustangs players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Alexis Castro (180-86, college: Vermont) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of her seven free throws) and the former international guard Paola Estrada (172-93) added 6 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Mustangs left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Mexcaltecas. Barreteras at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Mustangs is looking forward to face Gladiadoras (#9) in San Luis Potos in the next round. Barreteras will play on the road against Marineras (#4) in Puerto Vallarta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
