There was no surprise in Puerto Vallarta where 7th ranked Mexcaltecas (1-3) were crushed by fifth ranked Marineras (3-1) 69-47. Marineras held Mexcaltecas to an opponent 23.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.3 percent accuracy of the winners. The winners were led by American point guard Shauqunna Collins (163-94, college: Fresno St.) who scored that evening 24 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import center Ivory Russell (191-90, college: Jarvis Christian) supported her with 8 points and 18 rebounds. Russell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds by Guatemalan Linda Gonzalez (178-92) did not help to save the game for Mexcaltecas. American guard Melinda Murillo (165, college: Cent.Oklahoma) added 12 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Marineras moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Mexcaltecas at the other side keep the seventh position with three games lost. Marineras' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Barreteras in Zacatecas and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mexcaltecas will play on the road against Escaramuzas (#3) in Guadalajara and hope to win that game.
