Regular Season Round 17: Reims - Mondeville 66-64

Fifth-ranked Mondeville (9-7) gave a tough game to second ranked Reims (14-3) on Sunday. Reims managed to secure only two-point victory 66-64. However their fans expected easier game. Forward Margaux Okou-Zouzouo (184-91, agency: Two Points) stepped up and scored 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and point guard Coline Franchelin (166-99, agency: Two Points) chipped in 18 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Canadian swingman Kimberley Gaucher-Smith (183-84, college: Utah, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Turkish Cansu Koksal (185-94) scored 11 points and 5 steals. Mondeville's coach Romain L'Hermitte rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Reims have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Aulnoye. Mondeville at the other side keeps the fifth place with seven games lost. Reims is looking forward to face Montbrison (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mondeville will play against Chartres and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
