Very important is a road loss of second ranked Mavericks (39-27) against fifth ranked Spurs (27-36) on Tuesday night. Visiting Mavericks were defeated by Spurs in San Antonio 119-109. Spurs looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Spurs made 10 blocks. Swingman DeMar DeRozan (201-89, college: USC) nailed a double-double by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists for the winning side and guard Derrick White (196-94, college: Colorado) accounted for 14 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 blocks. Spurs' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Slovenian guard Luka Doncic (201-99) came up with 38 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Tim Hardaway-Jr (198-92, college: Michigan) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Mavericks in the defeat. Five Spurs and four Mavericks players scored in double figures. Spurs moved-up to fourth place. Loser Mavericks keep the second position with 27 games lost. Spurs will have a break next day, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mavericks will play against the league's leader Nuggets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
