Korisliiga top team - Seagulls (30-6) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Lahti (12-24) in Helsinki 91-72. Lahti was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 56-33 second half run of Seagulls. They outrebounded Lahti 41-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. American point guard Richard Williams (178-87, college: San Diego St., agency: HMS) notched a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and international Shawn Huff (198-84, college: Valpo) supported him with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Even 18 points by American guard Devante Wallace (196-92, college: High Point) did not help to save the game for Lahti. His fellow American import forward Courtney Stockard (196-95, college: St.Bonaventure) added 18 points for the guests. Four Lahti players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Seagulls have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 30-6 record, which they share with Vilpas. Lahti lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with 24 games lost. They share the position with Ura Basket. Seagulls will play against KTP Basket (#4) in Kotka in the next round. Lahti will play at home against Pyrinto (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
