Leader Stjarnan delivered the seventeenth win on Thursday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Haukar (11-10) 94-83. Stjarnan looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Urald King (198-90, college: SE Oklahoma, agency: Duran International) who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. The former international power forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82) chipped in 9 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. Stjarnan's coach Arnar Gudjonsson used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Dutch Gerald Robinson (202-84, college: UT Martin) who recorded a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds and the former international guard Kari Jonsson (190-97, college: Drexel) added 12 points, 7 assists and 5 steals respectively. Four Haukar players scored in double figures. Stjarnan maintains first place with 17-4 record. Haukar lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with ten games lost. They share it with IR. Stjarnan are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Fjolnir (#12) in Reykjavik in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Haukar will play at home against Valur (#10) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
