Regular Season Round 27: Pinheiros - Brasilia 106-71

Very predictable result in Sao Paulo where sixth ranked Pinheiros (15-12) outscored 13th ranked Brasilia (8-18) 106-71 on Saturday. Pinheiros dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Brasilia's 36. They outrebounded Brasilia 38-26 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pinheiros looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Brasilia's players. The best player for the winners was Lucas Pereira (203-98) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) chipped in 18 points and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Welington Dos-Santos (185-81) who recorded 23 points and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and the former international center Bruno Fiorotto (208-84) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pinheiros maintains sixth place with 15-12 record. Loser Brasilia keeps the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. Pinheiros will face higher ranked Minas (#4) in Belo Horizonte in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Brasilia will play on the road against Corinthians (#7) in Sao Paulo and hope to win that game.
