Very important is a road loss of Gigantes (1-1) against Venados (1-1) on Saturday night. Visiting Gigantes were defeated by Venados in a tough game in Mazatlan 82-89. Venados dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Gigantes' 40. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American players dominated the game. Guard Jordan Adams (196-94, college: UCLA) stepped up and scored 32 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and power forward Alex Hicks (203-96, college: Troy) chipped in 22 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Four Venados players scored in double figures. Venados' coach James Penny used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Jordan Williams (198-92, college: N.Texas, agency: Best of You Sports) responded with 28 points and guard Tiwian Kendley (196-95, college: Morgan St.) scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. Venados will face Tijuana Zonkeys at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gigantes will play against Caballeros de Culiacan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
