Regular Season Round 1: Obregon - Hermosillo 98-101
Date: March 14, 2020
A very interesting game took place in Ciudad Obregon. It ended with only three-point home defeat of Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (0-2) to Rayos de Hermosillo (2-0) 101-98 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Rayos de Hermosillo made 23-of-26 charity shots (88.5 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of Winston Shepard (203-93, college: San Diego St., agency: Slash Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Jordan Brangers (188-95, college: South Plains JC) contributed with 27 points (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Guard Reginald Holmes (193-87, college: Morgan St.) answered with 21 points and guard Jarvis Summers (190-93, college: Ole Miss, agency: Haylett Sports) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Halcones de Ciudad Obregon. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Rayos de Hermosillo's next round opponent will be Mantarrayas (#7) in La Paz which should be theoretically an easy game. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play at home against Ostioneros de Guaymas and hope to win that game.
