Regular Season Round 6: Mieleras - Quetzales 93-82

The game between Top Four teams took place in Guanajuato. First ranked host Mieleras (5-1) defeated one of their biggest challengers Quetzales (4-2) 93-82. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Mieleras players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American guard Simone Westbrook (173, college: Clemson) notched 29 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and the former international guard Brisa Silva (170-84, college: Oklahoma St.) supported her with 28 points and 5 assists. Mieleras' coach Jose Villegas used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds by Ashley Dechelle did not help to save the game for Quetzales. Izchel Valdez added 19 points and 10 rebounds. Defending champion maintains first position with 5-1 record. Quetzales at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Mieleras will play against bottom-ranked Reales (#10) in Fresnillo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Quetzales will play at home against the league's second-placed Barreteras (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
