Regular Season Round 27: UniFacisa - Sao Paulo 103-106

Eighth-ranked UniFacisa (13-14) made lots of trouble for third ranked Sao Paulo (20-6). The visitors from Sao Paulo managed to secure only three-point victory 106-103. However their fans expected much easier game. Sao Paulo shot the lights out from three nailing 21 long-distance shots on high 56.8 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. UniFacisa was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international Jefferson Andrade (207-83) who led his team to a victory with 27 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Germerson Barbosa (202-93) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Nate Barnes (178-90, college: Alders.-Broad.) added 23 points and 5 assists in the effort for UniFacisa. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. UniFacisa's coach Felipe Santana rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Sao Paulo. They maintain third place with 20-6 record behind leader Flamengo. Newly promoted UniFacisa dropped to the tenth position with 14 games lost. Sao Paulo will play against SKY/Basquete (#15) in Aldeota in the next round which should be an easy win for them. UniFacisa will have a break next round.
