Leopards' fans can celebrate the first win of their team after two consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Tianjin, where they defeated Pioneers (0-3) 97-83 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Pioneers 49-38 including a 41-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Leopards looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Leopards made 7 blocks. The former international center Zijie Shen (205-97) nailed a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds for the winning side and the former international forward QuAn Gu (202-92) accounted for 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Leopards' coach Jianjun Wang allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Zikai Meng (203-96) came up with 16 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Yi Shi (182-96) added 11 points and 7 assists respectively for Pioneers in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Leopards (1-2) left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with 4 other teams. It was Pioneers' third loss in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Shanghai S. and Bayi R.. Leopards will meet at home higher ranked Jilin Tigers (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pioneers will have a break next round.
