Second Stage Round 5: Joventut - Baskonia 76-74

Fourth ranked Joventut (2-3) saved a 2-point victory at home edging second-ranked Baskonia (3-2) 76-74 on Thursday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Baskonia won third quarter 21-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Turkish forward Kerem Kanter (207-95, college: Xavier) nailed 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and Latvian guard Arturs Zagars (190-0) accounted for 11 points. Italian forward Achille Polonara (203-91) came up with 18 points and 7 rebounds and Slovenian swingman Zoran Dragic (196-89) added 12 points respectively for Baskonia in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Despite that victory Joventut went down to fifth position (Endesa) due to points difference. Baskonia at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost.
