Regular Season Round 25: Rishon - Maccabi T-A 92-90

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Maccabi T-A (22-3) in Rishon Le-Zion on Thursday night. Visitors were edged by third ranked Rishon (15-10) 92-90. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Maccabi T-A. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Maccabi T-A won third quarter 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rishon made 26-of-27 free shots (96.3 percent) during the game, while Maccabi T-A only scored seven points from the stripe. 28 personal fouls committed by Maccabi T-A helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard DAngelo Harrison (193-93, college: St.John's, agency: 3Eye) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!). His fellow American import power forward Darryl Monroe (201-86, college: GMU) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American-Italian Angelo Caloiaro (205-89, college: USF, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 20 points and 5 rebounds and international forward Deni Avdija (206-1) added 15 points in the effort for Maccabi T-A. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Rishon maintains third place with 15-10 record having seven points less than leader Maccabi T-A. Defending champion Maccabi T-A still keeps top position with three games lost. Rishon are looking forward to face league's second-placed Hapoel Jerusalem at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maccabi T-A will play against Hapoel Holon and is hoping to win this game.
